Panfu — Goodbeans' virtual world of pandas, built in Berlin, launched in December 2007 and grown into Europe's biggest children's virtual world with more than 15 million registered pandas across 12 languages, from Germany to Poland to the Netherlands and beyond — closed for good on November 1, 2016, when the company went under, and it has never officially come back (we checked while writing this: panfu.com is today a fan-run preservation mirror, "in memory of Goodbeans"). Your panda's treehouse is gone — but the pandas never really left: the Panfu.me fan server has been running since 2016 and the Panfu.net remake arrived in 2026, and we link both honestly below. If you miss a cheerful world in a plain browser tab — no download, no plugin, no account wall — you're not alone. Here's the honest list of what comes closest — and our pick, Petropolis Play, doesn't ask you to take anyone's word for anything: it's free, runs in your browser with no download and no signup, works beautifully on phones, and is embedded on this very page.
Free forever · No download · No account · Progress saves on your own device.
Every "games like Panfu" search runs into the same heartbreak: the original is gone, its server switched off in 2016 when Goodbeans went bankrupt, and the fan revivals — wonderful as they are — are unofficial labors of love that can't hand your old panda back. So: your panda's treehouse is gone — decorate a new room for a new pet instead, free, no download. This page embeds its top pick instead — the complete free version of Petropolis Play, live below. Adopt and name your first pet in under 60 seconds, no account needed — and the same game is waiting on the Petropolis Play homepage anytime.

Best for: displaced pandas whose treehouse is gone — decorate a new room for a new pet, free, no download, no signup
Full disclosure: this is our game, and it's why this list exists — so let's be honest about the line first: Petropolis Play is not a panda MMO. There is no panda avatar here, no treehouse, no Bollies, no shared world to waddle around, no quests, no chat — ours is a quieter, single-player cozy corner. What Petropolis Play keeps is Panfu's deeper heart: a friend and a home that are yours. You adopt: four species are free today — pup, kitten, bunny and a brand-new sunny turtle — each in their own colors, each waiting for the name you give them (and yes, for the panda-shaped hole specifically: a Bamboo Panda does live here — he moves in with the one-time Full Version, and we'd rather say so plainly than pretend he's free). You care: hunger, happiness and health tick down gently, and feeding, playing and resting bring them back up (pets can never die or run away — they just wait patiently for you). You earn: PawCoins come from minigames like Berry Catch and a daily login bonus — the way Panfu's minigames paid out coins — and they can never be bought: there is no premium currency here and no Gold Panda-style membership at all. And you decorate: drag-and-drop furniture into a room that's entirely yours, across five themes — the treehouse ritual, rebuilt. Best of all for anyone who lost a world in 2016: the game is plain HTML — no Flash plugin, the exact dependency Panfu couldn't survive — it runs in any browser tab, needs no account, and your progress saves on your own device, so no company decision, ours included, can switch it off the way Panfu was switched off. It's free forever, it's genuinely mobile-friendly, and the only purchase is an optional $4.99 one-time Full Version — never a subscription. Don't take our word for it: it's embedded above.
Best for: the real thing — closed since November 2016, kept alive by fans
The honest starting point: Panfu itself is gone. Goodbeans GmbH's virtual world of pandas — built in Berlin, launched in Germany in December 2007, then rolled out across Europe and beyond until it reached more than 15 million registered users in 12 language versions, widely described as Europe's biggest children's virtual world — filed for bankruptcy in April 2015, wound down through 2016, and closed for good on November 1, 2016, weeks short of its ninth birthday. We re-checked while writing this page: there is no official revival — the original panfu.com domain is today a German-language fan-run preservation mirror ('in memory of Goodbeans'), not the original company. But the pandas never really left. Two fan projects keep the world alive, and both deserve the traffic: Panfu.me — 'the most popular fan-made Panfu server since 2016' — is 100% free and plays right in the browser, including on phones, thanks to the Ruffle Flash emulator, with safe moderated chat and regular updates (it also answers at panfu.us; 26 pandas were online when we checked). And Panfu.net is the newer fan remake: first released in March 2026 from Panfu's original Flash client, then rebuilt as an in-browser HTML5 game in June 2026, with new room designs, custom events and a coin-digging Mine. The honest catches: both are unofficial and unaffiliated with the original Goodbeans team, the Flash-emulated route leans on Ruffle, and nothing can bring back your original panda, treehouse, pets or coins — those saves died with the official servers. We link both below because those communities keep Panfu alive, and communities notice who links them.
🐼 Panfu.me — the fan server, running since 2016🛠️ Panfu.net — the fan remake (HTML5, 2026)
Best for: the shape Panfu was always compared to — also gone, also fan-kept
Panfu was so often called 'Club Penguin for pandas' that the comparison became a running joke — two cozy animal worlds of safe chat, minigame-earned coins and decorated homes, one with penguins, one with pandas. The honest state today: Club Penguin is gone too — Disney closed the original servers in March 2017, and the Club Penguin Island successor followed in 2018. Like Panfu, it survives through fan-run revival servers that keep the old world online — unofficial, unaffiliated with Disney, and free. The honest catches: the official game is never coming back, revival servers come and go and need an account, and your original penguin is as gone as your original panda.
Best for: the adopt-a-pet ritual with a room to decorate
Webkinz Classic keeps the plush-era ritual going: adopt a pet, name it, feed it, play arcade games for KinzCash and decorate its room furniture by furniture — the same adopt-care-earn-decorate heartbeat Panfu pandas grew up on. It's still running today, mostly through the apps, with an optional membership. The honest catches: new adoptions are tied to plush codes or in-app purchases, the desktop browser version moved on from the Flash original, and the best extras sit behind the membership.
Best for: a pet world from Panfu's own era — still online, free in a browser
Neopets is the grandparent of every world on this list: launched in 1999, it outlived Flash and is still free in a real browser tab today, no download needed. Create a Neopet, name it, feed it, play games for Neopoints, do dailies and explore a whole planet — the daily-care-and-earn loop Panfu players will recognize instantly. The honest catches: it's a quarter-century of accumulated interface, everything starts with an account sign-up, and its economy and battling sides are more spreadsheet than storybook.
Best for: a still-running animal world with a den to decorate
Also still running: Animal Jam, WildWorks' National Geographic-partnered animal world, launched in 2010 — three years after Panfu opened. Create an animal, play adventures, earn gems, adopt pets and decorate your den piece by piece. The original browser game was retired with Flash in 2020; the world now lives in the Animal Jam apps (mobile and Steam) and the Animal Jam Classic desktop download, with a membership and premium sapphires over the best bits. The honest catches: everything starts with an account, the app stores are the front door rather than a plain browser tab, and membership plus sapphires gate the best of it.
Panfu wasn't just a game — it was your panda, your treehouse, coins earned the honest way, and a cozy corner of Europe's biggest kids' world you could reach from any browser. Whatever you try from this list, these are the four things that made it special, and the four things we checked for.
Panfu started by handing you two things at once: a panda who was unmistakably yours, and a treehouse that was yours to fill. Any game on a 'like Panfu' list has to give you both somebody to love and somewhere to put the furniture.
The furniture and fun in Panfu came from minigames and daily habits — the playing was the earning. We checked that coins come from playing, not from a premium-currency shortcut with a real-money price tag.
The treehouse was the heart of it: earn a little, place a little, step back and admire. A real successor keeps that gentle furnish-a-corner loop — drag-and-drop, saved between visits — at the center, not on the sidelines.
Panfu lived in a browser tab — but it was built on Flash, which is exactly why it can't simply run today. We gave extra credit to games that run in a plain browser with no plugin, work beautifully on phones, ask for no account, and keep your progress somewhere no server shutdown can reach.
"Like Panfu" can mean the panda, the treehouse, the quests and the safe chat — or just the feeling of a friend and a corner that are yours in a cheerful world that never asks too much of you. Here's exactly what it means at Petropolis Play— and, just as honestly, what it doesn't.
Four friends are free to adopt today — including the brand-new Sunny Turtle. Six more move in with the one-time Full Version — and for panda-shaped holes specifically: yes, one of them is a Bamboo Panda.
Splashes in every puddle, then naps like a champion.
Professional sunbeam chaser and part-time yarn critic.
Bounces first, asks questions later.
Clever, quick, and secretly very cuddly.
Snack enthusiast. Napping professional.
Waddles with purpose. Loves a good slide.
Tiny flames, enormous heart.
Leaves a trail of sparkles wherever she trots.
Slow to the pool, first in line for a snack.
Hangs around all summer. Literally.
Panfu didn't move — it closed: Goodbeans filed for bankruptcy in 2015, and by November 1, 2016 the servers were dark, and every panda, treehouse and Bolly went with them. Petropolis Play's core loop — adopting, caring, earning and decorating — is permanently free, the room is furnished with PawCoins you win by playing (never bought), the game is plain HTML that runs in any browser tab (no Flash plugin — the dependency Panfu couldn't survive), and your progress saves on your own device, not on a server somebody else can switch off. The one optional purchase is a single $4.99 Full Version. Once — then it's yours.
2007–2016 Europe's biggest kids' world — switched off anyway
$0 forever — really
No — and we'd rather tell you plainly than let a 'games like Panfu' page pretend otherwise. Panfu closed for good on November 1, 2016: Goodbeans GmbH, the Berlin company behind it, had filed for bankruptcy in April 2015, activity stopped through 2016, and the servers went dark weeks short of the game's ninth birthday. We re-checked while writing this page: there is no official revival — the original panfu.com domain is today a German-language fan-run preservation mirror ('in memory of Goodbeans'), not the original company. What survives is the community: Panfu.me — 'the most popular fan-made Panfu server since 2016' — and Panfu.net, the fan remake released in 2026, are both live today and linked in the list above. The six picks here are the honest answer for everything the official servers no longer offer — starting with the one playable on this page.
There is no official revival — Goodbeans GmbH went bankrupt in 2015 and no rights-holder has ever announced one, and we'd say so happily if that changed. The fan community, meanwhile, has proven the demand twice over. First and longest-running is Panfu.me, online since 2016 and describing itself as the most popular fan-made Panfu server: 100% free, playing in the browser — including on phones — via the Ruffle Flash emulator, with safe moderated chat and regular updates (it also answers at panfu.us). Second is Panfu.net, a fan remake first released in March 2026 from Panfu's original Flash client and rebuilt as an in-browser HTML5 game in June 2026, with new rooms, custom events and a coin-digging Mine. Both are linked in the list above. The honest caveats: these projects are unofficial and unaffiliated with the original Goodbeans team, and no project can restore your original panda, treehouse, pets or coins.
Depends which part you miss — so here it is honestly. If it's Panfu itself: the official game is gone, but the Panfu.me fan server and the Panfu.net remake are the community's answer, linked above. If it's the cozy animal world with safe chat: Club Penguin was Panfu's famous cousin — it's gone too, and also survives through fan servers. If it's the adopt-a-pet-and-decorate-its-room ritual: Webkinz Classic keeps it going. If it's a pet world from the same era that never closed: Neopets is still free in a browser. If it's a still-running animal world with a den to furnish: Animal Jam lives on in its apps. And if it's the deeper heart — a friend who's yours, coins earned by playing and a room to decorate, with no download, plugin, account or membership: that's Petropolis Play, our own free cozy browser pet game, playable right here. The list above walks through each honestly, catches included.
Yes — four honest answers. Petropolis Play, our own game, is embedded on this very page: the complete free version runs in any browser tab on a phone or laptop, with no download, no plugin — Panfu's Flash dependency is exactly what made it unplayable today, so ours is plain HTML — and no account. Panfu.me, the fan server, also plays right in the browser including on phones, thanks to the Ruffle Flash emulator. Panfu.net, the fan remake, rebuilt itself as an in-browser HTML5 game in June 2026. And Neopets still runs free in a real browser tab after more than 25 years, though everything there starts with an account.
Yes — honestly free. Adopting, feeding, playing, minigames, shopping and room decorating are free forever, and PawCoins are earned by playing, never bought — the way Panfu's minigames paid out coins for the treehouse catalog, except there is no premium currency and no Gold Panda-style membership tier at all. The single optional purchase is a $4.99 one-time Full Version that adds six more species (including the Bamboo Panda, said honestly), two more minigames, outfits, every room theme and up to three pets at once — never a subscription. The free game embedded above is the real thing, not a demo.
No. Petropolis Play is an independent game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Panfu, Goodbeans GmbH, Joubgames, or the Panfu.me and Panfu.net fan projects — nor with Club Penguin, Disney, Webkinz, Ganz, Neopets, World of Neopia Inc., Animal Jam, or WildWorks. All trademarks belong to their respective owners — we just grew up in worlds like Panfu too, and built a free, browser-based cozy pet world of our own.
Same free game, same cozy promise — we built a page for every side of the playground.
Free forever. No download, no plugin, no account, no membership — just a pet who's very happy to see you, waiting in a plain browser tab like the old days.
